Running a Report
To run an existing [Dynamic
Report](/help/pro/dynamic/reports), [search
for the report](/help/pro/dynamic/reports/-/searching/for/dynamic/reports) first. When the Dynamic Report List displays, do one
of the following:
-
Click the name of the report.
-
Tag the report and then select Menu > Run
Report.
-
Tag the report and then click the Run Report button on the [Custom
Button Bar](/help/pro/navigation/-/custom/button/bar).
If the Specify filter at run-time
option was selected when the [Dynamic
Report was set up](/help/pro/dynamic/report/setup/dialog/box), a dialog box opens to enable the user to change
the report's filter criteria.
The user can click the hyperlinks in the filter criteria list to enter
new values for those filter criteria. (The new filter criteria apply only
to this instance of the report; they are not permanent changes to the
report setup). Click the OK button
to run the report using the specified criteria.
Note: Frequently run Dynamic
Reports can be added to the SmartOffice home page so that they automatically
run and display results when the user signs in to SmartOffice. See [Adding
a Report to the Home Page](/help/pro/dynamic/reports/-/adding/a/report/to/the/home/page).
Tip: Users who want to work
with Dynamic Reports results in Microsoft Excel can[
run reports directly from within Excel](https://help.smartofficecrm.com/msplugin/help/en/index.htm#running_dynamic_reports.htm) using the Microsoft Plug-in
for SmartOffice.
Canceling a Report
If a user mistakenly runs the wrong Dynamic Report, or if the report
is taking longer than expected, click the Cancel
button that displays while the report is being processed.
Processing will stop, enabling the user to select a different report
or perform other tasks in SmartOffice.
Working with Report Results
The results of a Dynamic Report display as a standard SmartOffice list,
which means the user can use [column
filtering](/help/pro/lists/-/column/filtering), list layout customization,
and other list features to change how the results are displayed (for more
information, see Lists).
The user can also adjust report options, save the report for future
use and print or export results, as described in the following sections.
Adjusting Report Options
Using the Report Options bar across the top of the report results list,
the user can quickly change basic options that specify what data is displayed
and how it is displayed.
Note: If these options are
hidden, click the arrow next to the Report Options heading to display
them.
After making changes, click the Refresh
button to display the new results.

Open
Report Filter: This hyperlink takes the user directly to the
Details/Add Filter section of [Dynamic
Report Setup](/help/pro/dynamic/report/setup/dialog/box). (This hyperlink is not available when viewing the
results of a [quick
report](/help/pro/dynamic/reports/-/creating/a/dynamic/report).) After making changes to the filter, click the Finish
button to refresh the report results.

Advanced
Options: This hyperlink opens [Dynamic
Report Setup](/help/pro/dynamic/report/setup/dialog/box). After making changes to the report setup, click
the Finish button to refresh
the report results.

Runtime
Filter: This hyperlink appears only if the report is set up
to prompt the user to specify filter parameters when run. Click the
hyperlink to open the Report Filter Criteria dialog box and make any
changes to the filter (the new filter criteria apply only to this
instance of the report; they are not permanent changes to the report
setup). Click the OK button
to refresh the report.
Saving the Report
To save the report and its current settings for future use, click the
Save Report as hyperlink and enter
a name and description for the report. The report can then be run as described
in [Running
a Report](/help/pro/dynamic/reports/-/running/a/dynamic/report#Running_a_Report).

Note: A Dynamic Report can
be linked to an Excel template so that report data can be opened automatically
in Excel. See Analytic
(Excel) Reports/reports/-/introduction)
Viewing Report Usage Statistics

SmartOffice tracks information about which users in the office ran a
report and when. With this information, SmartOffice administrators make
decisions about which reports should be maintained, modified or deleted.
To see a history of the users who have run a particular Dynamic Report,
along with information such as filters used:

[Perform
a Dynamic Report search](/help/pro/dynamic/reports/-/searching/for/dynamic/reports).
-
From the Dynamic Reports List, tag
one or more reports.
-
Select Menu
> Dynamic Report Usage Statistics.
-
To limit the amount of historical data
displayed, enter a date range and/or enter a particular user's name
in the Run By field.

Click the Search
button.
A list displaying the report's usage history
opens. The columns can be customized (see [List
Layout Customization](/help/pro/list/layout/customization)). Notable columns include:

From
Homepage: Whether the report was run from a home page tab.
-
Record
Count: The number of records that the report returned.
-
Run
Time (ms): The amount of time in milliseconds that the report
took to return results.

User
Full Name: The name of the SmartOffice user who ran the report.
