Overview
To ensure acceptable performance using SmartOffice, verify that your computer meets or exceeds these minimum system requirements. The requirements are based on a combination of software design and field performance tests.
Memory (RAM)
- 2 GB for 32-bit Windows
- 4 GB for 64-bit Windows
Internet Connection Speed
- Downstream: 1.5 Mbps (1,500 Kbps)
- Upstream: 0.3 Mbps (300 Kbps)
Operating Systems, Web Browsers and Office Software
SmartOffice integrates with Microsoft® Office® to provide:
- Composing letters in Word
- Exporting data in Excel format
- Importing Dynamic Report results from Excel
- Viewing SmartOffice contact data directly from Outlook
All Office updates must be installed. Download the latest Office updates.
> Note: Integration with Microsoft Office requires installation of a SmartOffice plug-in (local administrator rights required).

Compatibility notes:
- Windows Terminal Services/Citrix and Mac environments are not supported.
- Not tested/certified with Microsoft Office Home and Student editions.
- Both 32-bit and 64-bit Internet Explorer are supported.
- Windows RT 8.x is not supported.
- Only the desktop version of IE 10/11 on Windows 8/8.1 is supported (not Metro/Modern).
- Laptop PC sync is not supported in the U.S. — use SmartOffice Anywhere instead.
Web Browser Settings
These settings are normally configured automatically on first sign-in. Manual configuration may be required in restricted environments. This guide refers to settings in Internet Options (Tools > Internet Options).

Firewall Settings
Firewall administrators must allow outbound access to ports 80 and 443.

Lotus® Notes® Supported versions: 6.5.x, 7.0.2, 8, 8.5
Not supported on 64-bit Windows. Requires template changes — see Lotus Notes Template Setup.
E-mail Programs Use modern e-mail clients. Legacy programs (e.g., Outlook Express) may not render SmartOffice e-mails correctly.
Adobe® Acrobat Reader® and Flash® Player
- Adobe Acrobat Reader — for PDF viewing/printing
