This topic explains the functionality that behaves differently due to the disabling of Office Security.
Create an Activity)
If office security is disabled, users in that office are able to create activities for all contacts that are non-privatized.
Reports)
The current user in an office security-disabled office is able to generate reports for all users in that office.
Activity View Options)
The current user is able to view all non-privatized activities of other users.
Enterprise View)
Create an Activity
A user with the Enterprise View privilege is able to view the contacts of the child office and schedule activities for the non-privatized contacts of the child office.
The Enterprise View rights under the Additional Administrator Functions section must be enabled for any user to Enterprise.
For example, an Enterprise user in the New York office is able to add an activity for all non-privatized contacts of the Los Angeles Office.
Record Sharing)
Create an Activity
The Accept cases as a Specialist from any Owner option must be selected under the Record Sharing option in User Preferences for any user to enable record sharing. In this way, a Specialist or Expert user is able to access all shared records. An Expert user has access to privatized shared records as well. For example, an Expert user in the Los Angeles office is able to add an activity for the shared contact from the New York office.
Reports
A SmartOffice user having the Enterprise View privilege is able to generate reports for users in the child office. This is not applicable for record sharing.
Calendar View Options
A SmartOffice user is able to view the activities of child office users. This is not applicable for record sharing. For example, an Enterprise user in the New York Office is able to view the activities of users in the Los Angeles Office.
Whenever the user switches the Enterprise View option to something other than Enterprise View Off, the Activity View Option defaults to the View My Activities option, displaying the activities of the current user. The list of users selected for viewing other users’ activities in Enterprise View mode is not saved.
