Creating a Security

In SmartOffice, creating investment security records is an important

step before creating [investment

accounts](/help/pro/smartinvestments/-/working/with/investment/accounts) and certain types of [investment

positions](/help/pro/smartinvestments/-/working/with/investment/positions/).

Note: If [Enterprise

View](/help/pro/enterprise/view) is turned on, investment securities created in a lower office

are invisible to users in a higher office.

Manual Method

a Security Record](https://help.smartofficecrm.com/movies/sopro_smartinv/create_sec_flash/create_sec.html)

-

[Perform

a security search](/help/pro/smartinvestments/-/searching/for/investment/securities) to open the Investment Security List.

-

Select Menu > New 'Investment Securities' record

button to open the Select Security Type dialog box.

-

Select a Security

Type from the list to open the [security

Detail content link](/help/pro/smartinvestments/-/security/detail/content/link).

-

Complete the fields.

For help with these fields, see [Viewing

and Editing Investment Securities](/help/pro/smartinvestments/-/viewing/and/editing/investment/securities).

-

For help with blended and comparative indices, see [Comparative

and Blended Indices](/help/pro/smartinvestments/-/comparative/and/blended/indices).

-

Select Menu > Save.

Importing Securities

Investment security data stored in a comma-separated values (CSV) file

can be imported into SmartOffice using the Data Import feature.

Note: To be imported properly,

each security in the file should have a security type designation (mutual

funds, stocks, etc.).

-

From the SmartOffice [side

menu](/help/pro/navigation/-/side/menu), select Utilities

> Data Import Wizard to

open the Import Setup List dialog box.

-

Select Menu

> New 'Import Setup' record

to open the Add Import Definition dialog box.

-

From the Select

the type of records to be imported drop-down list, select Investment Security Import.

-

In the Enter Setup Name field, type

a name for the import setup. This name will display in the Import

Setup List the next time the user accesses the import feature, enabling

the user to perform subsequent investment security imports more quickly.

-

Click the Next

button.

-

Navigate through the remaining steps

of the wizard, selecting the import file and configuring import settings

and field mappings. For help with

these settings, see Data Import - Import Process.

-

If the Import Mapping Problems dialog box displays at the end

of the import process, resolve the problems as follows:

If the problem is due to incorrect mapping for a complete

column, click the Back

button to go back to the Select Mapping dialog box and change

the mapping.

-

If the problem is due to a mismatch between the import file's

field value and the available drop-down list values in SmartOffice,

click the column value's name (under the CSV Column Name column)

and then select the appropriate SmartOffice value from the dialog

box that opens.

Deleting a Security

-

Open an investment security record, or tag one or more accounts

in the [Investment

Security List](/help/pro/smartinvestments/-/searching/for/investment/securities).

Note: Only users with

the Mass Deletion [user

right](/help/pro/user/accounts/user/rights/content/link) can delete multiple records at once.

-

Select Menu > Delete 'Investment Securities' record.

-

When the confirmation message displays, click the Yes

button.
