Merge codes speed the process of automatically inserting information
from SmartOffice into correspondence, envelopes, and labels.
For example, to automatically insert a contact's preferred mailing address
into correspondence you are sending to that contact, you can insert the
<
> merge code. WhenSmartOffice prints or sends the correspondence, the merge code will automatically
expand to display the contact's address.
To learn more about using merge codes:
-
If you use Microsoft Word for SmartOffice
correspondence, see [Adding
Merge Codes to Letters](https://help.smartofficecrm.com/msplugin/help/en/index.htm#adding_merge_codes_to_letters.htm) in Microsoft Plug-in for SmartOffice Help.
-
If you use SmartOffice's built-in
editor, see [Inserting
Merge Codes](/help/pro/smartoffice/editor#Inserting_Merge_Codes) in the SmartOffice Editor help topic.
