Overview




This section describes how to enable and verify the status of the [Protect Communication

History](/help/pro/protect/communication/history/-/introduction) feature for an office.

Turning On Protect Communication History





Note: These instructions apply only

to customers who host their own SmartOffice servers. Other customers

(e.g., SmartOffice Online customers) must contact [SmartOffice

Technical Support](/help/pro/technical/support/information) to turn on Protect Communication History.





The SmartOffice system administrator can turn on the Protect Communication

History as follows:





-

[Sign

in](/help/pro/signing/in/to/smartoffice) to the System office.



-

From the [side

menu](/help/pro/navigation/-/side/menu), select Setup >

Office Settings.



-

If a search box opens, search for and

select the appropriate office.



-

Navigate to the [office

Detail content link](/help/pro/office/settings/-/details).



-

Do the following:






Select the Protect

Communication History option.



-

(Optional) Select the Lock

Notes after 24 hours option to lock SmartPad and other

record notes 24 hours after they are created. If this option is

not selected, users can edit notes without restriction.





-

Select Menu

> Save.






Verifying Protect Communication History Status




To confirm that Protect Communication History has been enabled, any

SmartOffice user with administrator rights in the office can do the following:

From the SmartOffice [side

menu](/help/pro/navigation/-/side/menu), select Setup >

Office Settings to display

the [office Detail content

link](/help/pro/office/settings/-/details).

Verify the Protect Communication History

setting. The option should be selected, and the date on which the

feature was enabled should be displayed.

Note: The adjacent Enable Security

Within Office option is in not related to Protect Communication History.
