May 2025


  • Added the ability to take a photo of a contact using the phone’s camera. When adding a contact photo on an iOS device, selecting Choose file displays a new Take Photo option. On Android devices, users now see a Camera option.
  • (Beta redesign) Updated the method for switching between the new and old design. To switch to the new design, select the More button, and then set the Try the new SmartOffice Anywhere switch to On. To switch back to the old design, select the menu button in the upper-left corner, and then set the same switch to Off.
  • (Beta redesign) Enhanced the navigation menu to provide access to the calendar and task list and to remove the names of SmartOffice modules whose design has not been updated yet.
  • (Beta redesign) Added a search button next to the Contact List search box on iOS devices. Selecting the button automatically hides the keyboard.
  • (Beta redesign) Added an Add Activity command to the menu to the right of the contact's name on the contact detail screen.

  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue on iPhones in which entering text in the contact search field and selecting the Return key was not performing a search.
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue with the label of the phone number field on the contact detail screen. The field was labeled Mobile, even when non-mobile numbers were displayed. This field was relabeled Phone, and when the field displays a mobile number, an SMS text button appears next to the number.
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue on Android devices in which activities were requiring multiple taps to be marked Done.
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue with the spacing of the phone number and e-mail address fields at the top of the contact detail screen.
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue with the contact Field Customization screen, which was displaying separate check boxes for the DOB and Age fields. These are now combined into a single check box labeled DOB (Age).
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue that was causing a “loading activity” indicator to appear unnecessarily on the Edit Activity screen. The indi­cator now appears only if the screen takes longer than three seconds to load.
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue with newly entered phone numbers not being marked as mobile numbers by default. In addition, 7- and 10-digit masked phone numbers are now formatted properly with hyphens.
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue with selecting a postal address on the contact detail screen. The user’s map app was unable to find the address because a
    HTML tag was being inserted into the address.
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue with the button on the Add Contact screen that users can select to show more data. The button now displays a single arrow to be consistent with the same buttons on the Contact Detail screen.
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue in which actions performed in one field on the contact detail screen (e.g., entering or deleting text) were being reflected in other fields. In addition, users were having difficulty selecting certain fields.
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue that was causing the full keyboard to display instead of the number keypad when the user selected a phone number field on the contact detail screen.
  • (Beta redesign) Resolved an issue in which entering a single character in the search box and selecting the search button was not performing a search.

December 2024


  • Redesigned the contact screens to improve their appearance, readability and navigation (beta). The new screens are visible when accessing Smar­tOffice Anywhere on a smartphone’s web browser. To switch to the new look if it is not already enabled, select the More button, and then select Modern View. To switch back to the previous design, select the menu button in the upper-left corner, and then select Classic View. Other areas of SmartOffice Anywhere will be updated in the coming months.
  • Resolved an issue where users who exceeded the number of allowed sign-in attempts were not seeing a message right away informing them that their accounts had been locked.
  • Resolved compatibility issues with the mobile app on Android 13 and later.
  • Resolved an issue in the Android app that was preventing users from opening PDF, Word and Excel documents.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing cross-office proxy users from being added as activity participants.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing activities to display the wrong time when a user selected the activity's description to view the activity's details.
  • Resolved an issue with the mobile app where typing characters into the activity Participants field was not initiating a search for matching users in some instances.

August 2024


  • Enhanced the First-Time Setup wizard to make the list of available agen­cies on the Policy and Investment Downloads step easier to understand. This change is aimed at making it easier for advisors to set up automatic pending case updates from agencies that use Insurance Sync.
  • Enhanced the profile menu to remove the SmartOffice Pro option for users who have a Lite tier license.
  • Resolved inconsistent access to integrations compared to SmartOffice Pro for SmartView for Advisors users. An Integrations button was added to the advisor detail screen, and the button for accessing integrations was removed from the investment positions list.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing users from saving mobile phone numbers in contact and advisor records.
  • Updated elements of the user interface to reflect Zinnia branding.

April 2024


  • Resolved an issue in which users who accessed Settings were not seeing their user information.
  • Resolved an issue that users were encountering when they tried to add an activity action to an opportunity on iOS devices. Selecting View More on the Activity Details screen was pushing the Save button off the screen, making it inaccessible.
  • Resolved inconsistent access to integrations compared to SmartOffice Pro. Buttons for accessing integrations were removed from the group policy detail screen and the investment positions list.
  • Resolved an issue that occurred when a user entered and saved an unfor­matted Mobile-type phone number. The system was not automatically formatting the number as it does with Business, Residence, and other number types.

December 2023


  • Enhanced the SmartPad to add a System-Generated switch. Users can select this switch to show or hide entries that SmartOffice generated auto­matically. Hiding these entries can make it easier to find entries the user entered manually.
  • Resolved an issue on the Dashboard that was causing the bottom border of the Recent Contacts section to extend too far down and touch the calendar section when viewed on a large screen.

  • Enhanced the opportunity detail screen to display the name of the linked marketing campaign when viewed on small-screen devices.

  • Enhanced contact creation to make the default types for new phone numbers and addresses match the settings defined in SmartOffice Pro under User Preferences > Basic Info > Default Settings.
  • Resolved an issue with editing existing contact addresses. The Address Type field was blank even though the type had previously been specified.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing sets marked as favorites not to appear when the Show My Favorites switch on the Set List was set to Yes.

  • Resolved several issues that users were encountering in the mobile app when entering subject lines for new activities, including text display issues and the inability to add text to a subject line selected from the Subject drop-down list.

  • Resolved an issue was occurring when a signed-in user navigated to the sign-in page without first signing out. If the user then signed in to another office, the app was behaving as though the user was still signed in to the first office, displaying dashboard labels and other content from the first office.

  • Redesigned the calendar, tasks and settings screens for improved usability on mobile devices.
  • Enhanced the Settings screen for large-screen devices to display the name of the office that the user is currently signed in to.
  • Added the Close Probability (%) field to the activity outcome screen when the activity is linked to an opportunity.
  • Added an option to the activity outcome screen for sending outcome notes to other users as alerts.
  • Added more filtering controls to the Opportunities List on large screens. The new controls can be accessed by selecting the funnel button. Because the new controls include filtering by status, the existing Status drop-down list was removed.
  • Added an Actual Sale Amount field to opportunity records that have a status of Sale Made. The field is also available on the activity outcome screens of activities linked to these opportunities.

  • Enhanced the opportunity detail screen on mobile devices so that users can select any linked activity or note to view its details.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing the Opportunity Name and Process fields to overlap for Chrome users.
  • Resolved an issue with one-time codes generated in the mobile app for SmartOffice Pro sign-in (when two-step authentication was enabled). After the code was entered, users were being redirected to the SmartOffice Pro sign-in page.

  • Resolved an issue with including apostrophes in searches that was producing unexpected results.
  • Resolved several inconsistencies with SmartOffice Pro with respect to presale and group policy data visibility for SmartView for Advisors users.

February 2019


  • Added a one-time authentication code generator in the mobile app for iOS and Android. This feature can be used to sign in to SmartOffice Pro 2019 Release 1 and later when two-step authentication is enabled in that application.
  • Added support for biometric sign-in for the mobile app. iOS users can now sign in to SmartOffice Anywhere using Face ID or Touch ID on devices that support those methods. Android users can sign in using fingerprint authentication. Note: Because of this enhancement, support for the PIN sign-in method is being discontinued.
  • Added a new button bar across the bottom of the mobile app for iOS and Android to accommodate new authentication features and to made commonly used functions easier to access.
  • Resolved an issue with the See Data For feature. In the user selection dialog box, selecting the Clear all selected items option was not clearing the check boxes next to selected users.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing SmartView for Advisors users from seeing Delete buttons for alerts.
  • Resolved a calendar issue related to cross-office proxies. When a partici­pant from a different office was added to an activity, that user was unable to see the activity in the SmartOffice Anywhere.

November 2018


  • Enhanced the layout of the Alert Center screen on mobile devices to make alert management easier and more intuitive. Extraneous commands, icons and text were removed; bold fonts now make text more readable; alerts dates are now aligned under the Date column heading; and the overall layout is now more compact to reduce the need for scrolling.
  • Enhanced the New Contact screen on mobile devices to includes a Phone Type field. This change enables users to indicate the type of number being entered. Previously, SmartOffice Anywhere was automatically assigning a default phone type of Mobile to all numbers entered from mobile devices.
  • Resolved an issue with editing an activity to add a participant. After the user saved the changes, the activity date was changing unexpectedly.
  • Resolved alignment issues with the Policies list for SmartView for Advi­sors users.
  • Resolved an issue that enterprise users were encountering when resched­uling an activity. Record tags and notes previously applied to the activity were not being retained. This issue was resolved.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing the filter button on the opportuni­ties list from working properly on mobile devices.

August 2018


  • Enhanced the screen for adding contacts on mobile devices to contain only the most essential fields. The new screen minimizes scrolling and makes contact entry more efficient. Once a new contact is saved, the user can edit the contact normally to access additional fields.
  • Added a See Data For button on the Opportunities List that allows you to see the opportunities of other users for whom you proxy (mobile devices only).
  • Added a Delete button on the opportunity detail screen on mobile devices.
  • Added a Delete button for alerts.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing the More menu to remain open even after the user selected a button from the menu.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing the Settings link from working properly.
  • Resolved an issue that was allowing users who did not have the Advisors & Agencies user right to change the contact linked to an advisor record.

  • Resolved an issue that was causing the contact detail screen to load slowly when the user did not have certain module licenses enabled.
  • Removed anon-functional Dashboard button that was appearing in the navigation menu on mobile devices.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing the Global Investment Accounts List to appear when users selected Investment Positions button in the navigation menu.
  • Resolved an issue with the Advice option in the activity outcome work­flow. Outcome notes entered on this screen were not appearing in the Record Tag Notes column in SmartOffice Pro.

  • Enhanced the navigation menu to allow the buttons to be customized on mobile devices. A section was added to Settings to enable users to choose the buttons they want.
  • Introduced an option in Settings to specify the default screen that appears when the user signs in on mobile devices.
  • Improved the layout of the opportunity detail screen on mobile devices. The screen now contains field labels to make the information easier to read.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing the contact detail screen to load only partially. The issue occurred when the contact was linked to an advisor record and the user did not have the Advisors & Agencies user right.
  • Resolved an issue with the Activity Type drop-down list on the activity detail screen. The choices were not alphabetized properly.
  • Resolved a date format issue that was causing first-time setup issues in new offices that do not use tier licensing.

February 2018


  • Redesigned the Opportunities List on mobile devices to make more effi­cient use of screen space. The new layout features a filter/sorting button as well as buttons for quickly calling the contact linked to each opportunity. In addition, when the Opportunities List is open, the search bar at the top of the screen changes from a contact search to an opportunity search.
  • Redesigned the opportunity detail screen on mobile devices. The top portion now displays the contact name, e-mail, phone, opportunity name, opportunity stage, potential revenue, and estimated close date. The bottom portion displays a list of activities linked to the opportunity, with buttons for creating activities, recording activity outcomes and calling the contact. Swiping left on the activity list displays the opportunity notes list, where users can quickly view, create and search for notes.
  • Improved the opportunity creation workflow on mobile devices. Users can now enter all relevant details for a new opportunity on a single screen instead of using the multi-step wizard.
  • Enhanced the user interface to use the date format configured in SmartOf­fice Pro user preferences.
  • Resolved an issue with the activity outcome workflow for activities linked to opportunities. SmartOffice Anywhere was not adding the opportunity owner as a participant in new activities.
  • Resolved an issue with entering mobile phone numbers. Users who typed the entire number in the Dial Number field and saved the record were finding that SmartOffice Anywhere was not automatically splitting the number into the appropriate fields.

October 2017


  • Resolved an issue with activities created from contact records. These activities were not being linked automatically to the contact's latest open opportunity, even when the user's preferences were configured accord­ingly.
  • Resolved an issue that was occurring when users customized the Marketing Mgr field label on the advisor Personal content link in Smar­tOffice Pro. The change was not being reflected in advisor records in SmartOffice Anywhere.
  • Resolved an issue with opportunities created for child-office contacts. These opportunities were appearing in the parent office with the opportu­nity name “Unknown.”
  • Resolved an issue that was causing the wrong opportunity process name to appear on the screen when users edited opportunity records.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing SmartOffice Anywhere to create opportunity stage history entries when the user marked linked activities as Done.
  • Resolved issues that users were encountering when they tried to select choices from drop-down lists.

July 2017


  • Enhanced the SmartPad section of pending policy records to displays policy-specific notes instead of contact-level notes.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing selections from fields on some screens to display as text across the bottom of the screens.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing opportunities from advancing to the next stage when the associated activity outcome was selected.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing the contact import process to hang when users selected a file to import and then selected the Next button.
  • Resolved a SmartPad issue that was causing notes to display a different status in SmartOffice Anywhere compared to SmartOffice Pro.
  • Resolved several opportunity issues related to the activity outcome work­flow, including improper or duplicate task creation as well as the display of incorrect stage designations.
  • Resolved an issue in which updating the primary advisor on a policy was also updating the primary advisor linked to the policy's primary contact.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing gibberish characters to appear in the Start Date and End Date fields of new activities.
  • Resolved an issue that was removing the primary advisor information from a contact when a policy was added to the contact.

April 2017


  • Enhanced the SmartOffice Anywhere website to display a download link for the iOS or Android app when the site is viewed on one of those device types.
  • Enhanced the Global Investment Positions List to display personal hold­ings: bank accounts, notes receivable, personal property and real estate.
  • Resolved an issue that occurred when a user’s default sign-in location was something other than Dashboard. Links in activity outcome alerts were not working.
  • Resolved an issue with activity creation on the Dashboard calendar. When users navigated to a specific date and then selected the Add button, the new activity's default date was always set to the current date.
  • Resolved an issue with set management. In the Set Members list of a set and in the Set Membership list of a contact record, selecting the Add button was causing the app to remain in a processing state.
  • Resolved an issue in which the number of members displayed on the Set List was different from the number displayed on the set detail screen.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented non-SmartView for Advisors users from seeing investment accounts. The issue was occurring when the Display Investment Account based on Investment Account Advisor List option was enabled in SmartView for Advisors Setup in SmartOffice Pro.
  • Resolved an issue affecting user accounts with record sharing enabled. In Settings, the Super User setting in the Security section was not being auto­matically cleared for these users (record-sharing users cannot also be Super Users).
  • Resolved an issue in which EbixEnterprise customers using single sign-on were being prompted to sign in to SmartOffice Anywhere instead of being signed in automatically.
  • Resolved an issue in which contacts created in SmartOffice Anywhere were not being automatically assigned a primary advisor, even when Assign new contacts to the users who create them setting was enabled in SmartOffice Pro. SmartOffice Anywhere now properly assigns the contact linked to the user's account as the primary advisor on new contacts.
  • Resolved an issue in which the status of advisor records created in Smar­tOffice Anywhere was not being set to Active by default.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing parent-office users with Enterprise View turned on from seeing child-office investment accounts in the Global Investment Accounts List.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing record-sharing users who were specialists from viewing documents. The issue affected documents posted to shared contacts by the owner or the specialist.
  • Resolved performance issues related to the Link Account to Contact feature and the way in which it posts entries to the SmartPad.
  • Resolved an error that occurred when users selected the Link Account to Contact command and then selected the Link Contact button for an account.
  • Resolved an “empty file” error that occurred when users tried to open documents.
  • Resolved an issue with the Link Account to Contact feature that was preventing the primary advisor associated with the contact from being linked to the account.

December 2016


  • Enhanced the activity outcome workflow so that users can complete an activity from the first screen of the outcome wizard if they do not need to specify comprehensive outcome options.
  • Simplified the calendar Month view on small screens to display a dot on those days containing activities. Selecting the dot displays the activities in the Day view.
  • Simplified the calendar Month view on large screens to display no more than one activity on any particular day. If additional activities are sched­uled for that day, the user can select an arrow button to display them in the Day view.
  • Added a button to the calendar week and month views to allow users to switch between displaying a five-day week and a seven-day week.
  • Repositioned the day numbers in the month view so that they are left-aligned instead of right-aligned.
  • Enhanced calendar activities so that they appear using the same colors as they do in SmartOffice Pro.
  • Resolved an issue with the Permission to Keep in Touch activity outcome workflow. Users who selected the Obtained Permission to Keep in Touch - Review Date outcome were encountering a message stating that no review date was available for the contact, even when the contact had a review date.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing users from sorting by the Type column on the Advisor/Agencies List.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing new opportunity records from displaying the office-default process until they were saved.
  • Resolved an issue with the Add Referral screen in the activity outcome wizard. Users who closed the screen without adding a referral were finding that the activity was not being marked as Done.

October 2016


  • Added the ability to restrict contact searches to records assigned to partic­ular users. A new See Data For button next to the search box lets you specify the users (note that this button is available on large screens only).
  • Enhanced the process for adding a company to a contact record. SmartOf­fice Anywhere now adds the contact to the business’s business relations, key relations and employee census.
  • Enhanced the navigation from SmartOffice Pro to SmartOffice Anywhere (via the profile menu) so that users are taken to their preferred landing page in SmartOffice Anywhere.
  • Enhanced the Opportunities List so that the default search type is Process.
  • Enhanced the Add Opportunity screen so that Process is the first field displayed.
  • Reconfigured the Set List’s column layout for both small and large screens to provide more relevant information.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing the Presale List to display an extra column when printed.
  • Resolved an issue that caused some Dynamic Reports to not display column totals.
  • Resolved an issue that occurred when a user viewed another user's calendar. When the user refreshed the page, the calendar and task screens were displaying the sign-in user's name instead of the name of the user whose calendar was being viewed.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing key relations from displaying for business records.
  • Resolved an issue with the SmartOffice Pro command in the profile menu. Users who selected this command were encountering issues accessing activities once they were in SmartOffice Pro.

August 2016


  • Added options to make sets private and/or modifiable only by the user who created them. Specific sets can now also be marked as favorites, and an option to display only favorites was added to the Set List.
  • Added a profile setting that lets users choose which screen appears imme­diately after sign-in. The choices are Dashboard, Day, Agenda, Week, Month, Policy List, Presale List, Opportunity List and Alert Center.
  • Enhanced the view of other users’ calendars so that the activities displayed conform to that user’s calendar and task view options in SmartOffice Pro.
  • Added a prompt that asks the user whether a household should be created or updated when a Family-type key relation is added to a contact.
  • Changed the icon for the menu button throughout the application to a “hamburger”-style icon.
  • Added the ability to search for opportunities by process name. A Process option was added to the Opportunity List's Search drop-down list.
  • Resolved an issue with missing column headings when users printed the Advisors/Agencies List.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented users from adding a referral contact after marking an activity as Done from the advisor detail screen.
  • Corrected the home screen icon that appears when Safari users on iOS devices added SmartOffice Anywhere to the home screen.
  • Resolved an issue with website address links in contact records not working when users selected them.
  • Resolved errors that occurred when users accessed integrations, accessed the duplicate contacts list, edited the profile photo or imported contacts.
  • Resolved an issue with the Contact Not Made activity outcome option. Selecting the option was incorrectly displaying the Finder Completed/Updated and Permission to Keep in Touch options.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented all records from displaying in the Contact, Set, Advisor/Agencies and Presale lists when the search boxes in those lists was cleared.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented users from opening a key relation’s contact record from the Key Relations section of a contact.
  • Corrected the wording of activity history records created in SmartOffice Anywhere to make them consistent with those created in SmartOffice Pro.
  • Moved the SmartOffice Pro option to the top of the list of options in the profile menu.
  • Resolved an issue with alerts about access hours not appearing for users who signed in to SmartOffice Anywhere from the Ebix CRM website.
  • Android app: Resolved an issue that was redirecting users to the wrong sign-in screen after they signed out.

  • Added the ability to create opportunity records and opportunity notes.
  • Simplified the layout of the Opportunity List on small-screen devices for easier navigation. The list now has only three columns: Current Stage, Contact Name and Potential Revenue.
  • Changed the basic font color to black throughout the application to improve readability.
  • Improved the user experience for SmartView for Advisors users on small-screen devices. Changes include displaying the policy list when the advisor first signs in, as well as improving the layout and sorting features of the policy and presale lists.
  • Added an element in the server config.xml file to enable enterprise admin­istrators to control whether their users can sign in to SmartOffice Anywhere on multiple devices simultaneously. In the  element, look for the  element and its child element.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented personal holdings from appearing in the Investment Positions list in contact records.
  • Resolved an issue with text copied from an Outlook e-mail message and pasted into the Description field of an activity. The pasted text was displaying HTML code.
  • Resolved an issue that caused SmartView for Advisors user to see the dashboard that regular SmartOffice users see after sign-in.
  • Resolved an issue in which users who tried to sign in to SmartOffice Anywhere without having the proper user rights were not seeing a message explaining the issue.
  • Restored the missing Add button to the Contacts section on the group policy detail screen.
  • Resolved an issue that caused links in activity outcome alerts to load slowly when selected.
  • iOS: Resolved an issue with navigating back from integrations.
  • iOS: Resolved an issue that was preventing users from accessing help through the Help link in the profile menu.

  • Resolved an issue that prevented referred contacts created in SmartOffice Anywhere from appearing in Dynamic Report results in SmartOffice Pro.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented contacts from loading properly in the Recent Contacts list and the Contact List screen.

  • Resolved an issue in the Security section of Settings that prevented users from saving changes to the View Other Users' Calendar Activities and Tasks option.

  • Added a Policy Date column to the Policy List to display the inforce date for each policy (or the pending case creation date if the policy is not yet inforce).
  • Added a New button in the Contacts section of policy records to allow users to add policy contacts such as owner, beneficiary, insured, primary contact and payor.
  • Added two new sections, SmartPad and Activities, to policy records. Users can now view and create SmartPad entries and activities from within a policy.
  • Enhanced SmartOffice Anywhere to reflect the following default activity preferences as specified in SmartOffice Pro: Start Time for New Appoint­ments, Calendar Activity - Type and Task - Type.
  • Added a Company field to contact records to allow the linking of business records to contacts.
