Pre-requisites
The following software and user rights must be installed and enabled
on the user’s computer before SmartOffice Mobile PC and ezSQLExpress (which
is required to use SmartOffice Mobile PC) can be installed:

SmartOffice Mobile PC User Right
-
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later
-
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or later
SmartOffice Mobile PC Installation

From SmartOffice, select Installations
from the expanded Setup menu
to display the Installations list.

Click the SmartOffice Mobile
PC hyperlink to open the File Download dialog box to start
the download process. If prompted, click the Run
button to begin the setup for SmartOffice Download Manager.

Once the SmartOffice Download Manager is downloaded, the SmartOffice
Download Manager Install wizard starts.

After the installation wizard completes, the SmartOffice icon displays
in the Windows notification area and the SmartOffice Download Manager
dialog box opens.

Select the SmartOffice Mobile
PC option and then click the Download
& Install button to download Microsoft SQL Server and SmartOffice
Mobile PC.

After the download process is complete, the SQL Express2K5 Install
– InstallShield Wizard opens. Click the Next
button to begin the installation.

Click the Finish button
once the SQL Express2K5 installation is complete.

From the SmartOffice Mobile PC – InstallShield Wizard, click
the Next button to begin the
installation.

From the Welcome dialog box, click the Next
button.

The Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable installation begins.

From the Choose Destination Location dialog box, the user can
click the Browse button to
select a different destination folder.
Note: Installing to a non-default
location is optional.

Click the Next button
to install MSXML 4.0.
-
After the installation, the “Do you want to create a shortcut
to SmartOffice Mobile on the desktop?” prompt is displayed. Click
the Yes button to open the
Installation Wizard Complete dialog box.

Click the Finish button.
Sign in to SmartOffice Mobile PC
-
Click the SmartOffice Mobile
PC icon that was previously saved to the desktop to open the
SmartOffice Mobile Login dialog box.

Enter the appropriate user name and password and then click
the OK button. Subsequent
attempts show the following dialog box where the User Name is automatically
entered.
Note: The password can be reset by
clicking the Forgot Password hyperlink.
Update SmartOffice Mobile PC
When a new version of SmartOffice Mobile PC becomes available, users
with older versions installed receive the following message.
This message displays automatically when the user signs in to SmartOffice
and attempts to perform any of the following:

From SmartOffice Mobile PC:

The user clicks the SmartOffice
Mobile desktop shortcut to open the SmartOffice Mobile
Login dialog box.

The user clicks the Sync
toolbar button (or selects Sync
from the expanded File
menu).
-
The user clicks the Mobile
PC Setup option (or selects Mobile
Setup from the expanded File
menu).
- From SmartOffice:
-
The user selects Sync Mobile
PC from the expanded Setup
menu.
To update SmartOffice Mobile PC
-
Click the Yes button
from the message box to open the SmartOffice Download Manager dialog
box.

Select SmartOffice Mobile PC
and then click the Download &
Install button.

When the SmartOffice Mobile – InstallShield Wizard opens, click
the Next button to begin the
installation.
