User Preferences - Activity Options


Overview


This help page describes activity settings accessible through User Preferences. The controls establish default behaviors for how the current user creates and manages activities. Several options require Office Security to be enabled.


Default Activity/Task Creation Options


Key settings include:


  • Conflict alerts: Users can opt to receive warnings when scheduling activities that clash with participants' existing commitments
  • Activity notifications: Enable alerts through the Alert Center (requires additional configuration in Alert Center preferences)
  • Sound preferences: Option to disable audible reminders for activities
  • Activity response: Users can respond directly from activity dialog boxes
  • Reminder timing: Configurable advance notice for Call and Appointment activities (up to 8 hours prior)
  • Appointment start time: Sets a default creation time for new appointments
  • Activity types: Users define default types for calendar activities and tasks
  • Duration defaults: Automatically populate end times based on start times
  • Creation mode: Choose between Simple Add or Comprehensive Add modes
  • Default participants: Automatically include specific users in new activities

Task AutoMove/Unfinished Activities


This feature moves incomplete tasks forward to the current day. Settings control:


  • Lookback period (1-180 days) for finding old incomplete tasks
  • Which activity types should be moved forward

Activity Outcome/Dialer Options


Includes tracking preferences, SmartDialer configuration, and call-handling protocols (callto, dial, SIP, Skype, tel, ucdial).


Activity Confirmation Letter Settings


Users select whether confirmation letters are printed, emailed, or configured for runtime selection.
