SmartOffice Mobile PC - Introduction


Note: This product is no longer being actively developed. Ebix's current mobile SmartOffice solution is SmartOffice Anywhere.


SmartOffice Mobile PC is a robust and complete mobile solution for offline users. Developed as a Microsoft® Windows®-based desktop application, it adopts a consistent user interface from SmartOffice®. SmartOffice Mobile PC requires additional licensing separate from the standard SmartOffice license.


Note: This feature is not supported in the U.S. The supported mobile solution for U.S. customers is SmartOffice Anywhere.


Using a run-time Microsoft SQL Express database to store field-level data that is synchronized with the enterprise database, SmartOffice Mobile PC can be thought of as a miniature SmartOffice on the users’ mobile computers. The synchronization between the local database and the enterprise database can capture:


  • Contacts
  • Businesses
  • SmartPad Notes
  • Calendar (including Activities)
  • Households
  • Key Relations
  • Policies
  • Investments
  • Benefits
  • Opportunities
  • Form Letter Selection

While in the offline stage, users can create and modify records using SmartOffice Mobile PC and have those changes synchronize back to the enterprise database once re-connected online.
