Integrations - Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365

Overview

SmartOffice integrates with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 to provide users with these features:

  • Access to SmartOffice data: Access your SmartOffice contacts, activities, notes, documents, policies, investments, reports and more from within Office. If you use Windows, you can also access SmartOffice correspondence features from within the Word desktop app.
  • Access to Office applications from within SmartOffice Pro: (Windows only) Launch Outlook, Word and Excel from SmartOffice to perform tasks like sending correspondence, posting e-mail, running reports and exporting data.

For current information about Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 products, visit the Microsoft 365 website.

Tip: SmartOffice also integrates with Microsoft Exchange to provide contact and calendar sync. For more information, see Integrations - Microsoft Exchange.

Choosing the Right Integration

There are two SmartOffice integrations for Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365:

  • SmartOffice for Microsoft 365: This is a set of add-ins compatible with the web and desktop versions of Outlook and Excel on Windows and macOS. Note that this is the only SmartOffice integration compatible with the new Outlook for Windows (find out which Outlook version you are using).
  • Microsoft Plug-in for SmartOffice: This is a plug-in compatible with the Windows desktop versions of Outlook, Excel and Word. It requires Windows administrator rights to install. Note that this integration works only with the "classic" version Outlook for Windows; the new Outlook for Windows does not support plug-ins (find out which Outlook version you are using).

The following table provides a feature comparison of the two integrations. Depending on the Microsoft product versions you use and your particular needs, you may have the option of installing both (see Product Version Compatibility).
